TEREZAKIS

Built in 1209 by the German Knightly Order of the Brothers of the Sword, this castle in Cesis was of central importance for the Livonian territories, and acted intermittently as the seat for the Master of their Order.  Around 1500: improved fortifications. Sacked by Russian army in 1577.  1777 construction of new castle on part of castle ruin grounds ( more ).
